Just wanted to thank everyone for commenting my work. I encourage you to keep posting your thoughts. I'm just getting into this stuff, lol. I plan on making my own brushes and uploading some graphics I made in Photoshop (yes I'm a PSC2 junkie and it's YOUR fault! :D ) Love y'all!!

hey Aja! its Julia (alice_in_wonderland) from the forum=)
Do you ever draw from live models or just render off photos? You have excellent rendering skill but Id love to see your drawings from life.
Hey,

I work from photos. I've tried still-life but it's just not the same for some reason so....I stick with photos, lol. The subjects move, the proportions are off, etc. it's easy to work from photo for me because I can take the time with it and all that. :-)
But drawings done from photos are just copies of what is already there. They lack the expressive quality of drawings done from a live model where the artist can really show their skill in drawing and bring something to the drawing that is beyond just merely copying a photo. Anyone can do that as the photo has already made the tough choices for you.. its already converted the model from 3D to 2D and already decided all the values for you. Thats why drawing from life is so difficult, you have to make the decisions about proportion, value, line quality and turning the form. Thats when you really learn how to draw.

If you are interested read my journal article on life drawing, its got some great input from alot of artists about how beneficial life drawing can be to the skill of an artist. Maybe sometime you will try it =)
You are artist of February/March in my journal!

That means a link to your Gallery will be in my journal all through Feb./March and I will also make an article about your art!
